Battling Food Intolerances Because of Veganism

Many people decide to become vegans for the sheer love of keeping up with the newest trend that is sweeping the world. However, not many can sustain the lifestyle because of issues that come hand in hand with changes. While it is undoubtedly healthy being a vegan or even a vegetarian, there are also some disadvantages. Food intolerances are one of the initial problems that vegans face. You might wonder why you would get intolerant to some food groups when you are adopting a healthy eating lifestyle; the answer is in the pattern.

The Main Culprit

Most food intolerances occur because your body gets used to the same types of food that you have been feeding it. The problem with a pure plant diet puts a damper on the amount of protein you can get from animal sources. Over some time the human body gets used to the plant diet, and sensitivities occur when you even try to introduce animal products into your lifestyle, even indirectly. Three main foods are known to cause reactions in vegans and vegetarians. They are:

  1. Soy – An ideal replacement for those on a vegetarian lifestyle or vegan lifestyle is soya. They include soy milk, tofu or even the soya chunks in their cooking to eliminate the dairy products they are used. This change is perfect for setting you up for food intolerances and a host of other health risks. Over-consumption of soya is a no-no for those on the vegan diet as it can turn you away from your lifestyle or worse cause irreparable health conditions.
  2. Eggs – While most vegans are not in risk of eliminating eggs from their diet, some of them go as far as taking the eggs out of their daily Eggs are an essential part of the animal protein and are considered a complete meal. It has the right amount of all fats and proteins that are animal sourced and good for your body. Eliminating eggs are not encouraged when you are a vegan.
  3. Milk – Milk and dairy are not necessarily bad for you. Make sure that you consume animal milk in some form or the other. This food sensitivity is the most prevalent in vegans. Almost all vegans become sensitive to dairy when they don’t include it into their lifestyle.

These products are not harmful and should be considered as products that will help promote a healthy lifestyle. Treat them as medicine and use them with caution and in moderation when you are on the vegan diet, an omelet a week or some regular yogurt is a great way to get the dairy and eggs into your diet. However, eliminating these makes you susceptible to immunity failures, inflammations, gut leaks, and even weight loss resistance.
