Over the last few years, the vegan lifestyle has been popularized by health and animal-cruelty advocates. Eating meat has also been contributed to much criticism with the growing diseases that are passed from poultry and meat to humans. There are a lot more hormones and artificial substances injected into the meat to feed the ever increasing demand for it. The vegan lifestyle advocates touch base with all of these factors and have been steering people toward eating only meat-free foods to stay in good health and provide life to animals.
However, recent studies have shown that eating less meat is detrimental to health. The study was conducted among a group of test subjects who were found to be less healthy than the ones who ate meat regularly. The results were a conclusion that was drawn in spite of the vegans not drinking any alcohol or indulging in any practices such as smoking that could deteriorate their health. The vegans were also given physical activity as part of the study to boost their health, which still did not come close to the meat-eaters.
The Details of Vegan Lifestyle in the Long Term
The study was conducted by the Medical Univesity of Graz where the vegetarian diet was administered to a group of 1320 people. They were introduced to the diet that consisted of lesser saturated fat and cholesterol, because of the inclusion of more plant-based foods. The health risks that were posed with the diet was elevated risks of contracting cancers, allergies, and issues with mental health.
The conditions that affected the vegans are:
- Cancer, and
- Mental Illnesses
Conditions that affected Meat eaters were as follows:
- Apoplectic Stoke
- Arthritis, and
- Urinary Inconsistencies
The quality of life experienced by adults who adopted the vegan lifestyle is said to be very poor.
Along with the poor lifestyle, vegans also posed a higher risk for medical treatments. There has been a massive controversy that the study was a work of the meat industry to fight back for their top spot on the lifestyle choices of people. However, the university has been fighting off attacks by organizations and fighting suits that claim the same.
When you look at the picture on the whole front, the study does make sense indeed as while the human body can process the vegan foods; the body is also susceptible to the tender nature of the plant nutrients. One should consider that persons who have lived all their lives as vegans might be able to cope better with the vegan lifestyle than those who change from eating meat to the other side. In reality, it comes down to continue entering your body on the medical front to ensure that you are in the right health. After all, not everybody type is the same and not every human body works similar to the other. If the vegan diet is not working for you and is beginning to affect your health, it is better to move away than risking permanent health issues.
